Who are ADHD assessments for?
An ADHD assessment may be helpful if you or your child experience:
Difficulty focusing or staying organized
Constant procrastination despite good intentions
Forgetfulness or losing things frequently
Emotional overwhelm or frustration
Restlessness or difficulty sitting still
Challenges at work, school, or in relationships
A lifelong feeling of being "different" without knowing why
Many adults are diagnosed later in life after years of developing coping strategies. Others seek an assessment because their child has recently been diagnosed, prompting them to recognize similar patterns in themselves.
Our Assessment Process
We aim to make the process supportive, collaborative, and easy to understand.
Step 1: Initial Consultation
We'll begin by learning about your concerns, history, goals, and whether an ADHD assessment is the most appropriate next step.
Step 2: Comprehensive Assessment
Your psychologist will gather information through clinical interviews, standardized assessment tools, questionnaires, and, when appropriate, information from parents, caregivers, or partners.
Step 3: Feedback & Results
Once your assessment is complete, we'll review the findings together, explain the results in clear language, answer your questions, and discuss recommendations moving forward.
You'll receive a written report outlining the assessment findings and recommendations.
What happens after the assessment?
An assessment is often just the beginning.
Depending on your goals, we can also support you with:
ADHD-focused therapy
Executive functioning strategies
Emotional regulation
Anxiety or burnout support
Parent consultation
Referrals to other professionals when appropriate
Our goal is to help you move from understanding your ADHD to learning how to work with it.

Assessments
ADHD/Social-Emotional Assessment
Do you notice in yourself or in your child/adolescent that they are struggling at school, work, or in relationships because of challenges with focus, attention, impulsivity, emotional outbursts, lack of attention to details, or combination of these challenges. Sometimes ADHD or other social-emotional difficulties might be at the root of these challenges.
Post-Secondary Assessment
This assessment is for those who have struggled with their education in the past, are thinking of returning to post-secondary as an adult or have an outdated assessment that may need updating. A psychoeducational assessment can aid in determining if learning difficulties you are experiencing are as a result of a learning disability, cognitive struggles, ADHD, and/or a mental health condition such as anxiety, or depression that may be impacting your post-secondary success.
Psychoeducational Assessment
Is your child struggling with their school work load, having difficulties staying on track or completing their assigned tasks? A psychoeducational assessment examines if your child may have a learning disability, cognitive difficulties and/or social/emotional issues that are impacting their learning.
PDD/AISH Assessment
Are you looking to secure Person with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) funding or the Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) funding? If so, an assessment can help you, or a loved one, receive services so you can live as independently and securely as possible. The assessment offered focuses on intellectual functioning and adaptive abilities. If you meet PDD’s or AISH’s criteria the assessment can be submitted to these agencies.
Social Shift offers a variety of other assessments including cognitive assessments, gifted assessments, and what many schools refer to as Level C assessments. Please message us if you have any additional questions about Formal Assessments.
